Austrian IT & Consultants Day 2025 - a review
On 20 November, the Austrian Chamber of Commerce Professional Group for Management Consulting and Information Technology (UBIT) hosted this year's IT & Consultants Day at the Hofburg Palace in Vienna.
For me, the event, themed ‘Changing Perspective’, offered a wonderful opportunity to exchange professional ideas with fellow consultants and IT experts, such as Andreas Katits from the security service provider AGF Vector in Krems (photo).
The event focused on a packed programme of presentations, which, in my opinion, featured two particular highlights.
The event kicked off with a thought-provoking presentation by philosopher Konrad Paul Liessmann on the topic of trust. He opened up two important perspectives: on the one hand, trust at the macro level in state institutions, the economy and political decision-makers. Here, we are currently experiencing a fundamental crisis. On the other hand, at the micro level, the relationship of trust with our customers, suppliers and partner companies. Both levels influence the stability of our business. My thesis is that notorious mistrust will not lead to success. Let us use the creative freedom in our environment to act with confidence and not lose our optimism despite all adversities!
A large dose of optimism and energy resonated in the presentation by Doris Lippert from Microsoft Austria. She presented the AI map from the Association of Austrian Software Innovation (VÖSI), which impressively demonstrates how widely artificial intelligence has already been implemented in concrete projects in this country (link in the first post). We are no longer talking about abstract concepts, but already about more than 100 successful developments ‘Made in Austria’. I believe that highlighting these successes sends an enormously important signal for Austria as an IT location and for the companies operating here.
Last but not least, I would like to thank our UBIT section chairman Mathias Past and his team for the excellent organisation of the event.
I am already looking forward to next year's edition!
